Egyptian Pryamids

We have been learning all about Egypt. And when we learned about the pyramids, Lydia needed to make her own pyramid (which I am positive sugar cube crafts are a rite of passage!).

Next project: make a mummy for the pyramid...

Little Sister

A little sister is coming to the Stojan House this Summer!

Lydia's reaction this fall to the excitement:

Apparently she has been praying for a sister (well, five sisters but ummmm, God is giving her ONE!). She is thrilled to carry the baby around in her arms, she is certainly big enough to carry the baby in the Ergo, she doesn't like sleep and is happy to get up and feed the baby at night, this baby WILL drink from a bottle, she can change diapers - even dirty ones, and the baby will be a SISTER!!!!!!!

Isaac's reaction to the excitement this fall:

Fast forward six months:

Lydia's reaction to the baby is actually a girl:

Oops, there is no picture. Why you ask? Because Lydia will not be still long enough for a picture! I attempted but the best I got was a blurry picture of the curtains moving as Lydia flitted by them talking about her baby sister and more day to day details of living life with her new baby sister.

Isaac's reaction to a new baby sister:

Not much has changed right? He liked the pink cupcake and wanted another cupcake. Isaac is now verbal and will happily say "yes hug" when asked anything about his baby. But seems much more interested in Dad's schedule, neighbors comings and goings, fire trucks, next opportunity to eat, etc... Our conclusion: Isaac is blissfully ignorant of what is happening in his life and a totally normal 2 year old ;)

Before you ask, this little one has due dates ranging from end of May to early June. North Carolina Stojan Babies seem to laugh at those dates and march to their own beats (can we all say 42 weeks and leave this mom alone in June?!?!).

P.S. If pictures of unborn baby blobs excite you, talk to Lydia. She has all the ultrasound pictures laying on her nightstand and is happy to tell you what she believes the various pictures are of ;) Yes, I have tried to tell her her baby is not really wearing a bow already BUT...

Celebrate FRIDAY!

Some weeks we just need to celebrate the week is over. So the kids and I made a cake and we ate cake at 4pm on Friday. Because whoohoo, the week is over :)

We will leave this story unsaid but Isaac earned himself the gift of 24-7 video monitoring in his bedroom... And James had a better sense of humor about ordering this "gift" for Isaac than I did.

James and I finished another puzzle. Happy Winter I guess...

Despite the warm for winter temperatures the ice in our backyard just would not melt. So I bought yellow flowers. Bright sunny yellow flowers and a candle. Whatever it takes to make a week better :)

Big Kid Clothes!

When a little boy begins wearing underwear his pants just don't fit quite right. I finally found some pants that fit this tall skinny and little bit goofy boy!

Snowflake Painting

At some point while being snowed in, we painted snowflakes. Perfect way to keep little hands busy for 3 - 4 minutes of messy fun ;)

No, Isaac is not wounded. He painted his forehead with blue paint...

Sleet Storm!

Did you know when enough sleet falls it actually accumulates? I thought in theory this could happen but had never seen it until last week...

Our sleet storm:

Conclusion: Lydia LOVES any weather precipitation and did not care that she was being pelted with sleet. Isaac (and the rest of the family) care about getting pelted with sleet pellets.

We watched way more TV than normal.

We made pretzels before bedtime. And the next day we were glad to still have electricity and see snow falling to be able to play outside a little bit. Lydia would have happily played outside all day long. Isaac played outside for a few minutes and then decided to go play INSIDE with his friend. Who said two year olds aren't smart!
