Some projects just evolve and take on a life of their own (and sometimes the ideas just grow and grow!!!!).
This weekend James tackled the swings on the swing set. This was an undertaking in the heat and James must love his daughter allot!

Somebody's Birthday ;)
After taking the 3 hour glucose test I decided to buy a chocolate cake. If I passed it was a celebration cake. If I did not pass, then it was a last celebration before the baby was born. Either way, I was eating a chocolate cake!
I went to the grocery store and was browsing the bakery and found beautiful birthday cakes on sale! Hurray!!!!! This was the chocolate cake for me.
The cashier asked me whose birthday I was celebrating my response "somebody special". Totally wasn't explaining my irrational thoughts to the cashier!
I got the cake home and we went to cut it and it just seemed wrong to cut this birthday cake without taking a picture. Aren't birthday cakes made to celebrate and be picture moments??? Ofcourse!
The Cake for "Somebody's Birthday".
And this was without a doubt the best cake ever! I have half a mind to buy a bakery cake next birthday to see if it tastes as good on a birthday ;)
P.S. I PASSED the glucose tests!!!!!!!!!!! This baby will have a happier mom over the next several months because I like chocolate.

Summer Adventures!
Some people pace out all the summer adventures to enjoy all summer. Some people like to see how many summer activities they can cram into 10 days. We fall into the later category apparently.
SO over the past 10 days, we have done VBS, gone to the beach, played in pools, went to a baseball game, played outside ALLOT, visited with neighbors, slept little, and really had a great week and a half. OH, I also got to deal with the glucose tolerance tests over that week and a half too - is there really ever a "good" time to do those tests???
I am very thankful to have a quieter week. Honestly, Lydia enjoyed every single event but she is also really enjoying quiet time to play in the basement, cuddle, and read books this week!
We also made it to the beach. After our whirlwind week we seriously considered cancelling the trip and having a quiet couple days at home but it was great to get away and enjoy the beach :) Lydia is already talking about when she can go back and stay for many many nights! She is such an easy traveler now that we may schedule another weekend beach trip before the summer is over.

Backyard Kingdom
Back to that James is nesting thing - apparently if we are going to do a swing set we might as well just do the trampoline too... SO ok ;)
Building the frame to the trampoline. |
"I hear thunder but let's jump". |
James putting the trampoline back together. |
The cute little girl who is so excited about "her kingdom". |
The net (A PRESCHOOLER CAGE!!!!). |
Finally jumping! |
7:45 the following morning - back outside and dressed for Wacky Hair day at VBS! |
I don't think the princess totally understands that her Kingdom is also for her brother. But for the next year she will have the backyard Kingdom basically to herself to rule and control!

My "Castle"
We finally decided to bite the bullet and tackle a swing set in the backyard. Actually I think men must have a nesting season pre-birth of a new child. (Lydia = James buying a house. Baby No Name = James creating a "kingdom" in the backyard). That is another subject though!
Lydia has spent hours and hours and hours this week standing in a chair overlooking her kingdom talking about her "castle". |
Taking water to Dad. |
James hopefully not breaking his neck climbing on the "castle". |
Water break together after hard work. |
"I like my castle". |
Let's SLIDE!!!!!! |

Sewing Projects
Lydia has been wanting to make a blanket for her baby. She has picked out fabric, helped wash the fabric, pinned the fabric together, and is enthusiastically sewing a couple inches at a sitting when the mood strikes her. I hope her baby brother likes the blanket as much as Lydia does (and the jury is still out if the baby will actually get the blanket or if Lydia will keep the blanket!!).
"My Blanket" |
And I am working hard on replacing all the pink in our house with more "manly" options for a certain baby's dad (because let's face it a baby could care less what color his blanket is!).
A new boppy cover - in blue! |
