Puppy Party!

I tried this year to talk Lydia into an "experience" instead of a birthday party (day trip to the zoo, pool trip with Dad, beach trip, etc...). Lydia really wanted a birthday party. And not just any party a "pink puppy" party.

I wasn't sure what a pink puppy party entailed but Lydia knew! "Make puppies with my friends, puppy birthday cake, and share puppies with my friends". Sounded simple enough and we went with it! Let's face it next year she will have a baby brother and we will be simplifying!

Lydia got to invite 3 friends (because she is turning 3!!!!!). This was a major decision for the social butterfly.

She picked out her puppy craft online (with some help!). We compromised and made pink puppy paw print cupcakes. (How does one make a pink puppy cake without spending a small fortune???) Lydia picked out some very special stuffed puppies from the store to give to her friends. And you can't send a puppy home without puppy food so we included some "puppy food" too (some people may have called our puppy food Fruit Loops!).

I used my creativity and we all ate hot dogs for dinner. Haha! It gave me a great laugh!

Fun was had by all :)

Making bags for our puppies and their food.

And we were having a "I will underwear but will NOT wear pants". Whatever says mom!

Bubbles!

Friends!

Water Table + Friends = FUN

"It's My Party and I will Cry If I Want Too!"

Yes, that is a flashlight but we should not flash it in our eyes or our friend's eyes...

I really want to though.

Water Table!

This week Lydia was a very lucky little girl and was given another water table! A sink. And in typical Lydia fashion lately  "a sink to wash my puppy".

The faucet even works ;)
Lydia has walked around all week saying "Thank You Mr. Dexter".  We are glad that she is thankful!

I had also noticed that our dearly loved water table we were losing interest in. SO one hot day we made colored ice cubes in the morning and after nap we got to play in the water table with our colored ice cubes! What fun!!!!!

James and Lydia Strike Again!

Hello James!
Look, we have lights on the ceiling.

Classic foot shot!

"Dad is using a pen".

Surprised that this is the first picture of James badge at work. She loves his badge!

Blueberries and Beach

Last week, Lydia decided she was done with her "letter work" and she needed to work on the "beach". How can I argue with that! We printed off lots of "beach work" and she really wasn't that interested in projects this week. We don't force the issue and had lots of fun doing other things and the mood did hit her a couple times to "do her work". So she did.
Cutting, gluing, and making a pattern. One of her new favorite things!
I love her concentration on matching up the pattern.

Oh, and mazes. How we love mazes right now! Infact, mazes make one little girl really happy at our house :)

Dot art/find the letter B. Also a success.

Drawing people (eyes, nose, and mouth inside the circle!).

We had a small obsession with the book "Blueberries for Sal" so we decided to make blueberries with paint one day.

Lydia's interpretation of the Blueberries for Sal book.

We could not leave the grocery without buying blueberries and they were BOGO so we made a blueberry pie with ALL our blueberries!

And homemade icecream!

And after a hard day of playing at Grandma and Pappaw's, birthday party fun, making pie, playing with Dad, AND a long bike ride the little girl almost fell asleep while eating her much anticipated blueberry pie.
