One Month

Approx. One Month and Smiling! 

Adjustments are Hard...

Indian Princess having her worst temper tantrum ever. She stopped in the middle of the drama to ask if I would take a picture and send to her Dad. Ummmm, sure... Pick your battles in life ;) 

Isaac had been crying but when he realized he could not top his sister's drama he just surrendered. Haha! (Do not fear he resumed when she quit.)

Toy Store!

A brick and mortar toy store - Lydia had never been to one. James took her to a brick and mortar toy store and let her pick out a special toy. You would have thought that we had given Lydia the moon. She was so excited! After looking at all the toys (and I think James may have steered her away from the pink sections), Lydia picked out a build your own airplane. 

She has played with this helicopter for days and days now. (The drill has gone through 2 sets of batteries!!!!).

"Peeps, this toy isn't pink and looks fun. Lydia don't break it before I get a chance!" says Isaac. 

James taught Lydia the correct names for tools and she has made sure to pass this knowledge on to me and we have taken the airplane apart and put it back together thousands of times! 

P.S. Yes, James took Lydia to a fancy toy store dressed in too big pjs, uncombed hair, dirty teeth, with cowboy boots, and she had the time of her life! 

Marbles!

How do you define love??? When a certain 3 year old with a brand new brother has been asking to go to Marbles for weeks and weeks and Mom bundles the newborn up and takes them both to Marbles alone. That is love! 

I was a little hesitant about taking both solo but we can't stay home 24-7 either. SO I did it. And my conclusion, we can totally do Marbles again. I thought that I had timed our event so Isaac would sleep and he was just toooo excited (and newborns are known for not being predictable about what they will do next!). The colors, noise, an excited sister the 4 week old stayed awake for the majority of the visit. I was shocked! 

Lydia loved the new exhibit and spent most of her time sitting in a helicopter pretending to be a newscaster. Or maybe the director - she likes to be the one in charge!

Yes, Lydia dressed herself. Yes, she is wearing a Christmas shirt and ballerina dress with cowboy boots. Quite the statement ;) 

Eventually the overly tired newborn gave in and slept (but not without a fight!). 

Happy Thanksgiving!

This is Lydia's Thankful Hat she made at MOPS. I will be honest, I picked her up from MOPS with an unhappy Isaac and we got to the car and I totally forgot to look at her Thankful Hat. The next day we got in the car and she wanted her feathers AND then I read her thankful feathers:

1. Mommy and Daddy (this is good - she should be thankful for us!)
2. The color pink (oh, so sweet! A neat memory.)
3. Sister 

And number 3 was worth questioning. 

DeAnna: Lydia, I am so glad you are thankful for being a sister. You are a great BIG sister. What do you like about being a sister?

Lydia: NO Mom. (huge smile now!). I want a sister!!!!!

And on that note we took her little BROTHER to the doctor. It is a good thing they are both cute and adorable. 

Lydia's Projects

Lydia's projects have become soooooo important to her lately. I can not begin to tell you how many projects this child does on a daily basis. But I don't take many pictures any more (baby in one arm and 3 year old armed with glue and paint - need I say more???).

Snapshot of Our Week

Ofcourse anywhere Lydia is, there will be crafting going on! 

"I will do it myself"!

We made a square picture frame but decided gluing buttons would be way more fun than just drawing a picture! 

Lydia likes to make faces and email her pictures to her Dad. I am not 100% sure that her Dad ever reads his personal email but one day he will see these emails and laugh ;) 

TRIO Blocks! Super cool! 

"Yes, Mom I can sleep flat on my back". AND we have so many pictures of Lydia in this same position - swaddled with pacifier in mouth laying on the same blanket in the floor. 

The day the Trio blocks came, James worked late, and Lydia went to bed early. I found James and Isaac playing with the blocks. (Isaac was soooooooo impressed ;) ). 

Working on our handwriting skills. But in Lydia's world she "is doing her important work from home". 

"Light bulbs! Peeps these are the greatest inventions ever". Good thing Isaac was born shortly before the time change - he would have been devastated to not have so many hours every evening to stare at the light bulbs. I think he should be easy to entertain over Christmas. 

Some kids read books. Lydia reads the Kindle... Geek in the making!

Another Week

Let's sum this week up with several doctor's visits and stomach flu for 2 children. Thankfully James and I stayed healthy and well. And we all survived. Lydia who has been the no-nap queen for about a month now decided to resume napping on a regular basis (but needs to be in bed and asleep no later than noon!). We ALL appreciate our evenings with a very sweet well rested little girl. A little sleep goes a long way ;) Between the laundry, puzzles, projects, and our non-stop days I did not really take many pictures but there a few... 

The little man has been refusing to sleep flat on his back and then one day he fell asleep on his back. The game is up dude!

Triangles and Rectangles

Look Isaac's first (and so far only) sleep in his crib. Some babies actually do sleep in the crib little man. So far he much prefers to sleep in a non-moving swing - yes, non moving is important. A moving carseat. Or a vibrating bouncy seat. Oh, and his very favorite cuddled in mom's arms. Mom's arms - not somebody else's! 

Lydia's first time tormenting her brother. He rarely cries but he was not in the mood for Lydia's attention at this point in time :( SO she made the most of it. 

Tackle DAD! Lydia truly is a Daddy's girl. 

"Well, mom. The sun is up, Lydia is awake, and I think I will finally sleep now", said the 2 week old after keeping Mom up most of the night! 

You keep me up all night and I get to dress you up like a pumpkin! Blackmail picture Little Man ;)
