Museum Visit

This week I looked at the teething toddler, James got a promotion at work, the list of errands, and decided that it looked like a great week to take the week off school. And we did (we did start school in early July!). After two days of running errands I felt like the kids needed a fun day. Infact they needed a fun day so badly that they woke up at 5AM to get a jump start on the fun day!

After we had a big breakfast, read stories, did 3 loads of laundry, played a couple games, cleaned the kitchen, and ironed Dad's clothes it was almost time for the museum to open. So we went to play at the museum!

We reserve the train for a special treat and today we got to ride the train. Lydia really was excited... Promise!

No doubt that Isaac was excited. "Mom I will climb this gate and ride the train NOW!".

During the train ride, there is a section with mirrors. On the first pass I enjoyed seeing Lydia's smile and I thought I would try to capture the smile. Kinda gotta it ;)

A very good day for all! (Even with a 5am start and no nap for Isaac - these teeth!)

Isaac's School

Does a one year old really "need" school? Nope. Does he want to be included? You betcha!

This week he showed me that he can lace pasta. I was shocked! I actually pulled out the pasta so we could play with the pasta in bowls however he has seen Lydia do this activity and she does not use bowls. So overachieving little silent guy!

And stamping:

But stamping wasn't our thing for long so we found paint:

Today we were ok with dirty hands:

Hurray For Fall!

Before we celebrate fall, Lydia finished her Kindergarten math book (she started it in January - weird homeschool family it is ok!) AND she finished her first reader of the year. To celebrate these accomplishments, she got to choose an activity to do with a parent. I thought Dad was going to get to do the honors but at the last minute, Mom won ;) We chose to go to a coffee shop and play board games. Cool chick if you ask me.

AND Whoohoo!!!!! It is fall :)

Daddy Love

Daddy is just AWESOME! So awesome in fact that the kids have to be super close to him if he is home.

I Can Read!

Lydia has read her first "chapter" book. She is pretty tickled with herself. As she should be. She is doing a great job and working hard with "Kindergarten First Grade" as she calls it.

Popscicles and Shaving Cream Paint

I believe our neighbors thought we had gone crazy but I gave my kids a can of shaving cream and let them enjoy themselves.

Isaac chose to scoop shaving cream and attempt to "water" the trees. Guess what shaving cream has to be in the sun a long time before a child can pour it. Do not fear - Isaac is stubborn enough to wait for the sun to do its job!

Lydia chose to learn how to spray shaving cream by herself. Not sure that is a marketable skill BUT she can operate a shaving cream bottle by herself. She also painted the driveway with shaving cream using a wooden spoon. Creative uh?

Both kids enjoy making creamy soup. (Note to self: don't eat any creamy soup these kiddos make for me this winter!).

Our Week So Far!

Football love starts early in life apparently...

Lydia wanted to pray AND draw a picture of her friend.

A morning at the park! Well, a picnic and play time but whatever we did it was fun!
