Merry Christmas Lydia (in November!)

Apparently James and I have a terrible habit. Christmas in November (refresher of Last November’s Christmas) . Maybe I will quit buying Christmas presents in the summer. Or maybe we will just continue giving Lydia a present in November. Hmmmmm, things to ponder!
But anyhow… The little girl got yet another kitchen. 3rd Christmas. 3rd Kitchen. Something different for her next year. I have promised myself! Last year’s Christmas kitchen was super cute but her cookie sheets would not fit in the oven. This was very frustrating to the short little girl which got even more frustrating for me! So I wheeled and dealed and got the little girl a new kitchen for next to nothing :)

Surprise there is something special in the basement for Lydia!

Oh, my! What could this be???

A fridge just like Mom's!

And a stove!

Dad is really excited!

Fruit for all my peeps!

Happy Thanksgiving!

From One Turkey to Another!

Lydia has enjoyed being an "Indian Princess" ALLOT! I thought that she might enjoy making an Indian headband (and seriously, isn't that just a childhood tradition???) - like is the understatement of the year!

The Indian Princess Played Outside...

In her playhouse...

In the Leaves....

She did not sleep in her feathers but the first thing she did the next morning was put the feathers right back on!

The Indian Princess went to Story Time.

Starbucks (no clue what she was doing with her tongue!)

Continued decorating her feathers with all sorts of random decorations.

Eventually the Indian Princess' feathers just fell apart (really construction paper just doesn't last thaaaaaattttt long!).

Letters W and X

We had lots of fun last week. Once again super cold so we got to do lots of projects and reading (now if only I had remembered to take pictures!).

Glue is still our favorite activity!

We learned about the Mayflower

And made a Mayflower for our Little People

Happy Thanksgiving!

Fall Colors Hayride

I just discovered the Wake County Parks website that has tons of events and classes for children and families. AND the classes are super cheap ;)

Last weekend we went on a Fall Colors Hayride at Harris Park. SO fun! James was a bit disappointed that the hayride was being pulled by a truck rather than a tractor. But seriously, the rest of us did not care ;) We also learned about Lolobolly and Long Needle Pine trees. During the hay ride - we got to stop and collect (YES COLLECT and OH, one of us loves collecting nature!) different colors of leaves. Lydia seemed to like brown best - I think because they were on the ground and easy to collect.

After the hay ride, Lydia got to make a fun collage with her collection. Which she enjoyed (they had GLUE and we all know Lydia loves to use glue!). AND there was a fun play ground. What a great day!

Grandma and Pappaw went with us on the hayride.

Cute!

Lydia's New Band-Aid

Lydia went with me to vote (ofcourse - where else would she have gone!). Lydia was so excited to see the greeter at the door giving away "band-aids". She worked very diligently inside the polling place to get a "boo-boo". She then received her "band-aid". Even though I tried to tell her this was a sticker and she could put it on her shirt - she refused.

Later that afternoon, she got a small scratch and was delighted to wear her band aid.

P.S. For anybody who cares - stickers left on sweaty skin make the sticker color bleed onto one's leg. A week later Lydia has what looks like a perfectly oval bruise!!!!!!

Violin (and Umbrella!)

Lydia was a coloring and crafting machine last week (it was a very cold week here!)! She finished up all her umbrella coloring pages and we printed off V is for Violin.

Play-doh

Stamps

Watercolors (The concept of dipping your paint brush in water and then the paint irritates Lydia very much. So she uses a medicine dropper to drop water into the paint. Why argue with a 2 year old???)

Her medicine dropper ran out of water. We tried the brush in the water which equaled painting being "too much work"!

Making an Acorn - Day One

Happy Thanksgiving Tree

Acorn - Day Two

I tried to get a picture of Lydia holding her acorn but "no thank you MOM!"

Making an Umbrella

with glitter paint

That ended up failing - too much glitter paint and two or three days later still had not dried!

Life is GOOD!

We did allot of cooking and baking this week (sweet potatoes, EGGS for the freezer, pizza rolls - long sad story on those, cheese sticks, bread). We had a wonderful time in the kitchen!
