Birthday Girl!

Somehow Lydia ended up with a week of birthday fun. Not sure how or even why that happened but none the less...

Birthday Dinner. Pigs in a blanket (for Lydia). Mac-n-cheese and green beans for Lydia and everybody else...

And I guess when a little girl has SO much family living all over the US that she can celebrate her birthday every day the mail comes for a couple days!

Which thrilled Lydia because now her cousins come to visit every day!

Making Soap

So apparently Lydia is going to be a far better little mother than I will ever even consider being to her baby brother. She spent quite awhile this week making pink soap to wash her baby with.

I think in November I will remember to buy some soap for the baby ;)

Happy Birthday Lydia!!!!!

Hard to believe how fast Lydia has grown up just in the past year. This time last year we had a little girl who talked but not that much, still used a pacifier, slept in a crib, and used diapers! 

This year we have a sweet - independent little girl - who dresses herself, goes potty alone, sleeps in a big girl bed, plays by herself (hurray!!!!!), sits in a big girl chair at the table, rides a bike for walks, gets herself in the car, and talks ALLOT!!!!!!

The transition to a big girl has been a big adventure for us this year!

We read and read and read "Good Night Moon". So I asked Lydia what "Goodnight Moon" was about. "They was sleeping. Good night mouse". There you go!

Tropical Storm Andrea

N is for Newt

Lydia was not a big fan of newts because "they are gross". Said by the same little girl who loves all things snakes... She preferred to do more beach stuff (and I think she is getting bored with the letter print outs and wanting things that are "hard work" as she says).

We did some cutting. 

And sorting beach vs. not beach things. 

Did finger paint a Letter N. 

Did our patterns with starfish. 

Made a kite! 

She wanted to cut so she chose to cut "up those ugly newts". Look at her disgusted face even!!!!! HAHA!

Dance Class

I really like the Parks and Rec classes for young children. They can be exposed to so many different activities with short commitments (and minimal cost for Mom and Dad!). 

Lydia has been asking for a dance class. She thinks that she is going to go teach a dance class and get to tell all her friends what to do and how to do it however, we signed her up for a class where she gets to be the student and Mom is not the teacher!
