If You Give a Toddler a Toy...

...And THEN the toy disappears. Does the toddler still know where the toy is???

By the end of the day yesterday we had allot of lost things at our house. Some things were not important (her new phone, empty water bottle, and "her" mail). Some things were annoying that she had lost them (like the pretend coins out of her favorite piggy bank - we do spend all day putting the pennies in and out of the piggy bank. The play value was lost but...).

Some of the lost things we REALLY needed to find. Quickly. The Bible story book that she loves and we read every night. You gotta it, lost. MIA. And then our favorite naked baby doll. The baby that she has only had a couple months but goes everywhere with us and looks like it goes everywhere with us. That is the one. Lost.

The Bible story book we were able to find a different Bible story book and life was good. The favorite book mysteriously showed up this morning.

The baby doll. (Which grandma ever so kindly gave Lydia a second matching baby last week - the new baby though has a permanent bracelet and is not completely naked and is no substitute for THE BABY. Thankfully, after a quick search under the couch THE BABY was re-discovered.

Now, the pretend pennies. Lydia has only brought me the empty piggy bank countless times today and then gives me this quizzical look that says, "what have YOU done with my pennies???". I gave up and we went on a penny search. We found all the pennies lovingly placed under the crib between the mattress and the springs. I would love to know how Lydia was able to do this (she is not left unattended for long in her room!). And then why??? But some things I will never understand.

The answer to the all consuming question:

If you give a toddler a toy, and THEN the toy disappears. Does the toddler still know where the toy is???

NOPE! And it is somebody else's fault that the toy is not where it is supposed to be!
